Doors Open Baltimore
October 28 @ 10:00 am - October 29 @ 4:00 pm
Did you know there is a Duchess of Windsor Museum on Biddle Street in Mt. Vernon? Each time you pass the corner of Pennsylvania and North Avenue, do you wonder about the ornately colored Arch Social Club? Would you like to learn more about Baltimore’s Arabbers and see their stables? These sites and many more will be open for you to visit and explore during the fourth annual Doors Open Baltimore! The Baltimore Architecture Foundation, in partnership with AIA Baltimore, has arranged for over 50 buildings across Baltimore to open their doors for exploration. The event gives residents and visitors a chance to see inside buildings that are not always open to the public, while learning more about Baltimore’s history.
Everything’s free, and this year event expanded to the full weekend, Saturday & Sunday, 10/28 & 29, 10 am–4 pm. Check the map here to review the wide variety of sites and plan your route. Most of the special events, such as walking tours, that require free registration will occur on Sunday, October 29. Register and find more details here.
In addition to visiting sites, please consider volunteering for Doors Open Baltimore. Volunteers are posted at all the sites, and you do not need to know a thing about Baltimore history or architecture to help out. You just need to be excited to show off some beautiful and intriguing sites.
Sign up here for a morning or afternoon shift, and then use the rest of the weekend to visit sites.
