Concert: As Caged Birds

April 28 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

As Caged Birds concertMezzo-soprano Claire Galloway Weber and artist Mollie Komins, two Bolton Hill neighbors, are presenting a collaborative concert, “As Caged Birds“, at the Baltimore War Memorial on Friday, April 28 at 8 p.m.

Ms. Weber will be joined by baritone Brad Testerman, pianist John Henderson, and a string quartet for this performance highlighting human identity and connection. Through works by Judith Weir and Samuel Barber, the concert explores the relationship between humans and nature through the seasons.

The concert’s highlight features excerpts from Laura Kaminsky’s chamber opera “As One“, which follows the story of a transgender woman from her isolating childhood to finally feeling at home in her own skin and realizing she does not need to isolate herself.

Artist Mollie Komins’ visual designs provide a framework for the stage of this exciting collaboration. She also created a limited edition poster for the event, which will be sold at the concert as a fundraiser for LGBTQ alliances and organizations in Baltimore.

Tickets are available online here. See more information on this Facebook page.
